"Spreading Wings to Yemen" - A Family Ethnography


Doctoral student Tom Fogel on his research examining the Yemenite community in Israel, with whom he has a personal connection. Fogel will explain his work methods which involved reconnecting with members of this community who are dispersed across Israel. The lecture will touch on aspects of Fogel's own life, including his experience as a goldsmith, a cantor, a musician and an academic

.

The lecture will place a particular focus on Fogel's research on Yemenite women's singing, jewelry making and the community's relationship with the Muslim population during their time in Yemen.
