For String Quartet, 2000 (publisher: IMC 2000)
NliParagraph1
This piece was written to commemorate the memory of Amitai Rokem, who died in an accident during a class excursion in 1990, at the age of 17. The work is dedicated to Galit and Freddie Rokem, Amitai's parents and close friends of the composer.
A funeral march motive alternating with fugal episodes moves through various styles until the tonal ending is reached. The piece is also built on a famous phrase from “Death and the Maiden” by Schubert. The phrase is hinted at throughout the work, and appears in an exact quotation towards the end.
The work is included in the CD "
Prisms", 2004.
