Shoshana Damari

Shoshana Damari

 (1923-2006)

Shoshana Damari would have been 90 this year. In honor of this iconic singer who was an active part of Israeli musical culture for approximately 70 years, we present a selection of songs that reflect her vocal riches and unique musical and interpretive abilities. Damari sang folksongs, both Yemenite and from other traditions, in Yiddish for example. She was the vocalist of choice for composer Moshe Wilensky, whose archive can be found in the Music Department (MUS69).
