The lyrics: after seven years of fruitless wooing, acting on the advice of people, the lover dresses up as a beggar and comes to the house of this love when she is embroidering next to her mother. The mother sends her daughter to give some money to the stranger, who takes her money and shakes her hand. Later, he kidnaps his love.

This is quite a rare romansa in the oral tradition (indeed in the book "Romancero Sefaradí" only one version appears. It is sung here by Rachel HaMeiri  Bendiga from a manuscript left to her by her father, Mordechai Yisrael Bendiga). There are no ancient Spanish sources for this text, but similar songs appear in the folklore collections of Catalonia, Cantabria, Portugal and even Western France.​
