​Ordering Items Online

Online OrderingThe Library's new online ordering service enables users to order items online, free of charge, from outside the premises. Following a one-time registration, users can order up to 20 items at a time by means of the Merhav search tool.

This new service enable users to track their orders using their online library card, as well as to receive e-mail notifications regarding the arrival or unavailability of an item.

  • Registration:

  • Registration for the online ordering service opens an online library card that enables users to order items for in-library use. If you would like to borrow books, you must complete the full registration at the loan desk, situated on the ground floor.

To order an item:

The reading room staff does not place online orders for users, though we will gladly provide assistance with the online ordering process.

Each user can order up to 20 items at a time to a reading room or to the loan desk. Each physical volume counts as one item. For example, a book comprised of 3 volumes counts as 3 items. This order limit does not include books for home loan.

If the item ordered was not found, the request will be saved in the system for a period of one month. During this time, Library staff will continue to try and locate the item. At the end of this month you will receive notification of the status of the order.
Users can order an item currently in the possession of another reader. Notification will be sent to the requesting user when the item is returned.

If you would like to place an order for rare books, you must do so by filling out a form at the loan desk, not through an online order.

If you would like to order an SR copy, meaning a preservation copy, you must do so with the help of a librarian.

On Sunday – Thursday, until 6:00​ pm, and on Fridays until 11:45 am, ordering items that are situated within the library building will be processed on the same day.

Orders received after those hours will be processed on the next working day.


Item pick-up and return:

Users may keep up to 20 items under their name in a reading room. The items are kept in the reading room as long as the reader extends the loan, once a week, through the electronic reader's card.

Items must be picked-up and returned to the reading room to which they were ordered.
It is the users' responsibility to extend the loan period for items under their names using the online library card.

Items that have not been renewed after one week will be returned to the stacks.
