Menahem E.Yaari

​Menahem Yaari is a theoretical economist. He is professor emeritus at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has been a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 1991, and has served as its president (2004-2010).
His research has concentrated mainly in the areas of the economics of uncertainty, consumer theory, and economic justice. He is a Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the American Philosophical Society, a Foreign Honorary Member of American Economic Association. He served as President of The Open University of Israel (1992 to 1997), and is a founding member of The International Scientific Council of IPSO (Israeli-Palestinian Science Organization). Yaari has served as visiting professor at numerous prestigious institutions. He has been awarded various prizes including the Israel Prize (1987) and the EMET prize for social sciences (2012).
