Leon Wieseltier

Leon Wieseltier is a writer, critic, and philosopher, literary editor of The New Republic since 1983 and member of the editorial board of the Jewish Review of Books. Receiving his Ph.D. in Jewish Studies from Harvard University, he was also a member of Harvard’s Society of Fellows (1979-1982).
In addition to his journalistic writings, he has also published several books of fiction and nonfiction, including Nuclear War, Nuclear Peace (1983), Against Identity (1996) and Kaddish (1998), his part-memoir, part-cultural history which won the Jewish Book Council Award. He also won the 2013 Dan David Prize for his contributions to ideas and contemporary philosophy.
