Josef Joffe is editor of the German weekly Die Zeit. He is, in addition, the Marc and Anita Abramowitz Fellow in International Relations at the Hoover Institution and a Distinguished Fellowat Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute. His areas of expertise are US foreign policy, international security policy, European-American relations, Europe and Germany, and the Middle East. At Stanford, he also teaches in the Political Science Department. The recipient of a number of honorary doctorates, he has also been awarded many distinctions, including the Theodor Wolff Prize for Journalism (1983) and the German Federal Order of Merit.
In addition to numerous essays and articles, he is also the author of several books; the most recent, The Myth of America's Decline: Politics, Economics, and a Half Century of False Prophecies (2014).
