Itzhak Zamir is Professor Emeritus of law and former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He served as Attorney-General of the State of Israel (1978 - 1986) and Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel (1994 - 2001). In addition, he was the President of the Israeli Press Council (1988 - 1991), and the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Law of Haifa University. At present he serves as Chairperson of the Jerusalem Center for Ethics.
He was awarded numerous distinctions, including the Emil Grunzweig Human Rights Award (1986), the Israel Prize for Research in Law (1997) and the Emet Prize (2014).
