New Titles and Current Issues
The National Library is responsible for preserving the cultural assets of the State of Israel for future generations, as well as for researchers, scholars and citizens. The Books Law was passed for this purpose, requiring all those who publish a book in Israel to deliver two copies of it to the Library.
The vast majority of Israeli publishers deliver their publications to the National Library and thus participate in creating the largest and most comprehensive collection of Israeli publications in the country .
Publications are registered at the National Library, the national bibliography – "Kiryat Sefer", and the Libraries Union Catalogue of Israel. Online catalogues are accessible at www.nli.org.il
. Over the last three years, the National Library has been producing weekly and monthly lists of new Israeli publications, as RSS feeds and standard web pages – http://aleph.nli.org.il/list_month.html
. These lists provide readers with up to date information and provide an advertising platform for Israeli publishers.
