Text on the back -Tipografia Giuntina - Firenze.;Production period - middle of the 20th century-?;founders, architects, painters etc. - Moritz Daniel Oppenheim;Front Period - 1880;Category - Jewish types;Description - A book of three postcards (a fourth was torn out) of reproductions of Oppenheim's paintings of Jewish scenes in Germany. 1. (1866) A Jewish wedding outside the synagogue building. The depiction contains some Ashkenazi wedding customs: - The couple stands in the center under the Chuppah (a canopy traditionally used in Jewish weddings) and is wrapped with a Tallit (Jewish prayer shawl). - Both the bride and the groom where a special kind of belt called Chagorat sivlonot ('belt of presents') which symbolizes the new family connection established in the marriage ceremony. The belts where exchanged as a gift between the couple. - On the synagogue's wall, above the Chuppah, a 'Chuppah stone' (Even Chuppah) can be seen.
