Gesellschaft, Wien [...];Production period - 1st quarter of 20th century;Category - Religious life;Description - A vertical photograph depicting two elderly men standing infront of Aron Hakodesh (the Ark) standing on the right and holding open Mahzorim (prayer books for the holidays) while an open Torah Scroll is placed near them. They are dressed in Tallit (prayer shawls) and Kittles (white robes worn Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur). The figures' posture and the objects around imply that the scene is staged and is held in a photographer's studio rather than in a real synagogue. The scene may represent the Standing Prayer or a prayer in general. A greeting for the new year is written in Hebrew at the top and at the bottom a publisher's mark standing for 'Oest.
