Collas & Cie, Cognac (CHte);Production period - ca. 1917-?;Front Period - ca. 1917-?;Category - Historic events;Description - This vertical postcard depicts a photograph of a remnant of Tiring's store in Thessaloniki. In Salonika of the 1900s, the most famous houses were the Orosdi-Back, the Tiring, and the Stein, all situated in the French quarter. From their installations, these establishments constituted places of reference in the town life. The Tiring was an important Jewish shop of clothes, shoes and hosiery, as it is written on the postcard. On the facade of the shop, we can read the Hebraic word טירינג (Tiring) and the French words 'VETEMENT - CHAUSSURES - BONNETERIE'. The Tiring store is shown in ruins; This maybe refers to the big fire which occurred in 1917 in Thessaloniki, which especially affected the Jewish community, concentrated in the low city.
