New York Made in Germany;Production period - beginning of the 20th century;Category - Religious life;Description - This vertical postcard depicts a painted photograph of a praying man. In the center stands the man, who has a long white beard and wears a long black coat, black boots and large fur hat typical of east european Jews (shtreimel). He is wrapped in a tallit (a prayer shawl worn by Jews for morning prayers). In one hand he holds an open book, while the other is clutched to his chest, his head is lifted and he looks upwords. Behind the man is a screen of heavy fabric with ropes hanging from it. Text in Yiddish is printed at the top inside a white frame. At the bottom appear the words לשנה טובה תכתבו A Happy New Year. [A.
