The Lorely is a rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine river near St. Goarshauen, Germany, on the narrowest part of the river between Switzerland and the North Sea. The place is known for its strong currents and dangerous rocks, which cause many boat accidents. The legend has it that Lorelei, a beautiful Rhine maidens, sits on the rock and lures with her singing passing boats to their doom. [M. J.];Back Description - A divided back.
