Ilieff.;Text on the back -CARTE POSTALE:Correspondance - Adresse M. 6043;Production period - ca. 1912;Front Period - ca. 1912;Category - Jewish school;Description - This horizontal postcard depicts a photograph of a boys'school founded by the Universal Israelite Alliance (Alliance Israélite universelle), situated in Andrianople. We can see the facade of the school taken from a left view. The school is closed by a fence bordered by an alley of trees. The Universal Israelite Alliance was founded in 1860 in France with the goal of protecting human rights of Jews as citizens of the countries where they live. In addition, the organization opened several schools in numerous country, particularly in Muslim countries. These schools aimed at furnishing a 'modern' education with French standards to the local Jewish youth; they were however opened to non-Jews. [S.H];Back Handwritten Text - 10 c (?)
