Detailed description
הטור "ארץ ערבית" מאת נתן אלתרמן הופיע בעיתון "דבר" ב-13 בספטמבר 1946. השיר בן חמישה בתים בחריזה מסורגת רבועה.
בראש השיר' תחת הכותרת "ארץ ערבית"' מופיע כמוטו הציטוט הבא: "פלשתינה היא ארץ ערבית ואין לזרים כל חלק בה". הדובר המצוטט הוא "כוֹׁרי בוועידת לונדון". הכוונה לפארס ביי אל-כורי (1877--1962), ראש המשלחת הסורית לוועידת לונדון, שהיה באותה עת נשיא בית הנבחרים הסורי.
השיר מתאר לילה שקט בארץ, כששמות כל המקומות והגיבורים בו מופיעים בצורתם הערבית, אך תוכני הסיפור שבו מבוססים על המקרא ועל ההיסטוריה של העם היהודי, שגיבוריו משותפים לתרבות היהודית והערבית.
המשורר מתייחס בלעג לטענה הערבית שלפיה "פלשתינה היא ארץ ערבית ואין לזרים כל חלק בה" ומוכיח על ידי השימוש בסיפור ההיסטורי שאפילו על פי הטענה הערבית הסיפור המקורי של הארץ הוא סיפור יהודי שאומץ על ידי האומה הערבית.
