The Great Songs of Moshe Wilensky

"The Great Songs of Moshe Wilensky" presents a selection of songs based on the record issued under this title. The site has been created with the aim of shedding light on the work of a composer whose many songs tell the story of Eretz Yisrael and the State of Israel from the 1930s until the late 1990s.
Moshe Wilensky (Warsaw 1910 - Tel Aviv 1997) is one of the most significant and influential composers of the new Israeli Song. He wrote his melodies to the lyrics of prominent Hebrew poets such as Natan Alterman, Tirza Atar and more. The famous singer Shoshona Dammari, as well as Chava Alberstein, Yehoram Gaon and others, performed his greatest hits.
The site includes musical notes, sound, video clips, pictures and scores of about 14 songs. All the material is taken from his archive (MUS 69(, which was donated by him and by his widow Mrs. Berta Wilensky to the Music Department of the Jewish National and University Library, in Jerusalem.
The site is entirely in Hebrew.
