Shemita Controversy 5684 (1924)
Prior to the sabbatical year 5684 (1924), Rabbi Kook acted this time as head of the rabbis to Israel, in both directions. On the one hand confirmed the necessity to also have a sale permit this year and sent to the peasants the permit and requested their signatures on the authorization to sell the land for a non-Jew. On the other both tried to establish a fund for the seventh keepers who preferred to leave the the land ans not work. The cort of of the orthodox community reterned to its traditional stand to ban all field work, and not use all crops grown during the seventh year.
