Elly Gross studied drawing with private teachers already as a young girl in Vienna. After completing her studies at Bezalel, she continued to study drawing and sculpture with various artists in Israel and abroad, including Isidor Aschheim, Ellen Colmar-Bernkopf, Jacob Wexler and Jacob Epstein. Gross’s talent in art also helped her in her various works as a book designer and enabled her to refrain from using readymade images in her dust-jacket designs, to produce the precise image she needed as she saw it, for the dust jacket for that book, perfectly integrating it with the title.
