"Twenty, twenty two/and maybe only ten plus nine/he was clear-eyed/he followed his heart" wrote the poet Aharon Ashman, in his poem "Twenty years old"- tune by Abraham Mindlin. The poem was printed and published in Tel Aviv in 1949. The composer dedicates it to "our heroes in the War for Independence". Later the song was released in a number of versions. There are two versions of the song in the National Library 's Music Collection and Sound Archives. The first version is by the singer Hanna Ahroni from "Mine, Hers, His" (according to the information on cover of the record). It is dramatic, quick and exciting. The second, a version by the singer Sarah Yaari, is slower and more solid, accompanied by a piano which is perfectly matched to the words (piano: Shmuel Fershko).
