Tsippi Fleischer (1946-) is among the preeminent contemporary Israeli composers. She began her career as a talented performer of jazz and light music. She was also involved in composing, arranging, and accompanying vocalists or bands in the studio, on stage, and on the radio, often improvising on the piano. Fleischer describes her early compositions as "pre-opuses."
Among them are her original melodies, and arrangements of these and light classical pieces – for the Daughters of Eve – a trio of women that emerged from the Nachal entertainment unit which she established, managed and accompanied. One of the pieces Fleischer composed for the group, and which featured on the LP they produced, was the song Shnei Shaldagim to lyrics by Nurit Zarhi.
One of Fleischer's best known melodies was for the song Aharei Moti to lyrics by Haim Nahman Bialik. The song was performed by Chava Alberstein and appeared on one of Alberstein's most successful albums, Kmo Zemach Bar.
