FAQ: Order Scans and Print-Outs from the Library Collections

The National Library allows you to receive high-quality copies and scans from the Library collections. A scan or print-out of the various items such as: manuscripts, archives, maps, journals, books, photographs and more can be ordered.

Additionally, the service allows books and scans to be ordered from other libraries in Israel and abroad.

Provision of the scan or print-out will only be possible after clarification of the state of copyright and terms of use of the items.

You can order a scan or print-out of various items from the library's collections: manuscripts, archive material, maps, journals, books, photographs and more.

Is it Possible to Receive a Scan of Every Item?

How much does the service cost?

The service is at a cost in accordance with the document delivery service price list.

Please note, the final cost will be determined after a precise calculation of the number of pages requested. The order must be confirmed by the customer. The work will be carried out after the payment is made.

How do I order?

  1. Locate the system number in the library catalog. You can ask the reference team for help in locating the item.
  2. Fill out an online form in accordance with the type of item required

How will I know if the order was received?

When you have finished filling out the form, a notice will appear which confirms that the form was sent successfully.

When the form is received, your request will be transferred and dealt with by the document delivery team in the library, who will contact you and continue processing your application.

How will I know the price of my order?

You will receive an email containing a price quote detailing the costs. You must confirm and accept the quoted price so that we can continue processing your request. If there are no copyright issues to resolve, the price quote will be accompanied by a link for online payment.

Payment is done online via secure transactions using either a credit card or a Paypal account.

How long will it take until I receive the scan?

The copy will be provided within 14 working days from the date the payment is made.

In addition, there is a fast-track document delivery service available, which can supply the requested item within 3 business days – more information.

How do I pay?

After the order is confirmed you will be sent a link for secure online payment by credit card or PayPal account.

Additionally, you can pay in cash, by credit card or check in the financial department, which is located on floor -1, room 22, on Sundays – Thursdays between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

How will I receive the scan?

  • The files will be sent to you by email in PDF format
  • If you wish to receive the files in a different format (JPG, TIFF) you must state so explicitly on the order form.
  • Files of over 9 MB will be sent by means of a link to download. Please note! These files will be deleted after the period of time stated in the attached message. After this period of time you will have to make a new order at the full price.
  • You can also receive a printed copy of the scan for additional payment of delivery fees and the cost of printing.
