Combing refined artistic techniques with leading scientific methods, the National Library’s Preservation and Restoration Department is responsible for providing specialized care to the Library’s timeless treasures. The National Library has thousands of rare books, which may be characterized as such due to an early printing date, a limited number of copies or other distinct features such as handwritten notes or historical importance. Many of these books are one of a kind and while each has its own significance to Jewish and world history, they all require proper conservation and preservation in order to ensure that they are safeguarded in perpetuity.
