Menahem Ben-Sasson

Menahem Ben-Sasson is currently serving his second term as the president of the Hebrew University. A professor of the history of the Jewish people, he was previously rector and deputy dean of humanities. He was, in addition, a member of the Knesset for the Kadima party (2006-2009). He has also served on the board of directors at Yad Vashem, and as president of the World Union of Jewish Studies, vice-president of the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture and chair of the Ben-Zvi Institute.
 
His honors include an honorary doctorate from the Jewish Theological Seminary, as well as the Yitzhak Ben-Zvi Prize for Jewish History and the Feher Prize for the Study of Jewish Heritage (1997).

 
He is the author of numerous publications in the field of medieval Jewish history in Muslim lands.
