Amsterdam, 1695

Haggadah from Amsterdam, from the year 1695.

The first Haggadah to include copper engravings and a map. The copper engravings in the illustrations are the work of the artist Avraham ben Yaakov Hagar. A map of Erets-Israel appears at the end, also in copper engravings. The map is likely based upon the map of Eretz Cnaan by Christian van Adrichom, from the 16th century, who was also known for his map attempting to reconstruct Jerusalem and its surroundings in the olden days.
