A weekly newspaper published in New York between 1849-1858. Founded and edited by Robert Lyon, this newspaper is considered to be one of the cornerstones of Jewish American Press. Many of its readership were Jews of German descent, and hence the newspaper issued a German language supplement often. The newspaper covered local and National Jewish affairs, as well as reports about Jewish affairs in Europe.
