"The Dreamers after the Sun" – Sasha Argov

This website contains a selection of songs by Sasha Argov, one of the preeminent composers of modern Hebrew song. The tunes, to the words of Israel's finest poets and lyricists, appear in the form of sound, musical notes and pictures. These items come either from the abundant collection of recordings in the Sound  Archive of the National Library  or  from the composer's personal archive which was donated to the library's music department.

Another feature of the site is the composer's biography (1914-1995), accompanied by documents and letters from his estate and by segments of audio and video recordings of interviews with Argov, himself, with members of his family and with contemporaries eminent in the field of Israeli song.

Sasha Argov created a unique and complex musical language, which integrated popular with classical elements. His many melodies have become an inalienable part of the modern Hebrew song culture and an inseparable part of Israeli identity.
