Online Catalogue

The National Library's collections include close to 5 million volumes of books, manuscripts, newspapers, maps, music, audio-visual and electronic material, in a variety of languages and scripts.

The Library's Main Catalogue provides efficient access to these rich resources, either by searching for a specific item or topic or by browsing the collection virtually. The catalogue integrates into one list the majority of the resources found at the Library, including materials found in the stacks and items that are housed in the different departments. You can also limit your search to a specific collection or sub-collection.

The catalogue's interface is in Hebrew and English. Material in Hebrew, Arabic, Cyrillic and Roman characters can be searched from either interface.

You can search by keywords, author, title and subject. You can also do an advanced search using a combination of search terms. It is possible to have your search results e-mailed to you directly.

What is not included in the catalogue?

–Archives: The Library has many personal archives in its collection. A list of these is available on the Library's website.

In general, individual articles are not included in the catalogue. However, indexes, such as the Index to Articles in Jewish Studies (RAMBI), are accessible online via the Library’s website.

The Basic Search screen provides simple instructions on how to use the catalogue. The Library’s reference staff will be happy to provide further assistance.

The digitization of the card catalogue was made possible by a generous donation from the Henry Leir Foundation.
