Ordering books from the stacks:You can order books from the stacks for use in the reading rooms, or to borrow, using the
online catalogue from any computer connected to the Internet (see
Order Online).
To see if a copy can be borrowed:Using the Library's
online catalogue, locate the item you want and click on "All Copies".
• Copies specified as "
Requestable to Reading Rooms" can be ordered to a reading room and are for in-library use only.
• Copies specified as 'Copy for Loan" may be borrowed.
You must have a valid library card in order to borrow materials: Library card fees:
1 Year: 200 NIS
6 months: 100 NIS

• To apply for a library card you must have a valid ID (foreign citizens must present their passport).
• Students at the Hebrew University, and academic and administrative staff of the Hebrew University may check out materials using their student card or staff ID.
Library materials may be borrowed for the following lengths of time:
Books can be borrowed for one month, and the reader is responsible for returning the books to the Library at this period's end.
Materials are not renewed automatically, and non-returned items will incur a fine (30 NIS per item, for every week the item is over-due).
The National Library reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including denial of borrowing privileges, against readers that fail to return books on time, cause damage to books, or do not pay their fines.
Renewing Materials:
Items that have not been requested by another user may be renewed.
Materials may be renewed using the online catalogue: click "Your Library Card", enter your ID number (9 digits), and your user name and password.
