Birkat HaChama

In the spring of 1925 (5685), the writer S.Y. Agnon, who was already living in Jerusalem at the time, wrote a letter to his wife Esther, who was still in Köningsberg, Germany. He told his wife that “Mr. Bialik and his wife invited me to the [Passover] Seder. They absolutely insist that I come to them; none of my excuses were to any avail, and I must go. It is so hard for me to go down to Tel Aviv for Passover, particularly as this year we will be reciting the ‘Blessing for the Sun.’ Who knows if I will live to see another ‘Blessing for the Sun.’”
